Purpose: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4, EPA Office of Research and Development (ORD), the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will host the second annual Southeast Regional Collegiate Environmental Science and Health Symposium in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 14, 2007. Each Agency shares common goals of protecting human health and the environment, and each knows the importance of research institutions and how students are our environmental leaders of tomorrow. During this 1-day Symposium, students from universities and colleges in Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi will have the opportunity, through formal presentations and a poster session, to showcase their environmental health, environmental science, environmental justice, and other related environmental studies research to participating Federal Agencies and academic communities.  The Symposium will include Student Federal Career Workshops to inform students of possible internships, fellowships, training, and career opportunities. University and college faculty also will engage in informative grants/contracts workshops presented by participating Federal Agencies.  The information shared at this event will serve to enlighten agencies, students, and academic faculty of differing environmental perspectives and ongoing challenges as well as expose everyone to a wide range of opportunities.
