Title: Zero Net Energy Homes Project
P3 researchers designed, built, and tested a neighborhood of six houses with zero net energy needs. Using solar power, the houses are prototypes for providing decentralized power to the city grid as an alternative to central power stations that burn fossil fuels. Zero net energy houses make more power than they use and are thus able to feed energy back into the power grid. Designs were selected with the community and built by a construction partner on land owned by the City of Austin, Texas. The city also provided solar panels.
