Title: Community-Scale Biodiesel: An Affordable, Renewable Resource
Students designed and built a community-scale, processing facility for biodiesel that minimizes the environmental impacts of biodiesel production and makes this clean-burning, renewable fuel affordable for communities. Their facility processes waste vegetables into biodiesel without any fossil fuel inputs. The project has the potential to improve local air quality, close a local industrial recycling loop, and make green energy technology available to lower-income users.
