Title: A Sustainable Approach to Preserve the Choctawhatchee Coastal Dune Lakes of Florida
University of Florida students will study the coastal dune lakes of the Choctawhatchee basin in Florida to suggest alternative land-use practices. Coastal dune lakes are fresh water basins situated slightly above sea level. A rare and unique ecosystem, they have become increasingly threatened by urban development. This project will develop a baseline of the lakes’ condition for measuring future human impacts and to provide information for land-use decisions.
