Title: Raceway Reactor for Microalgal Biodiesel Production
A team of students from the New Mexico State University, Las Cruces will design a bioreactor to more efficiently produce biodiesel from algae. For the biodiesel production process to be cost effective algal growth and lipid accumulation must be increased. This is accomplished by designing the bioreactor growth chamber to maintain optimal levels of sunlight, carbon dioxide and nutrients. A mathematical model of growth will be enhanced by adding air-lift and aquatic chemistry modules to it.
