Title: Patch-burn Grazing as a Tool for the Ecological Management of Invasive Species and Restoration of Carbon Sequestration and Ecosystem Processes in Working Landscapes
A team of students from Iowa State University will investigate whether patch-burn grazing is effective as a low-energy means of reducing invasive species abundance without relying on herbicides. They will also investigate the relationship between invasive species abundance, native vegetation communities, and carbon sequestration potential on working (grazed) grassland. If successful the practice should reduce reliance on herbicides, reduce energy consumption and reduce the carbon footprint.
