Title: Using Sand and Moringa Oleifera Protein for a Sustainable Water Filter

Miami University Oxford’s team has designed an innovative home water filter for people who live in communities without access to clean water. The filter combines sand, a common material for simple water filters, with seeds of Moringa trees, which grow around the equator and produce seeds that kill microbes. Pairing these green materials in a filter removes pathogens and particles from water and prevents bacteria from growing back while the water is stored. The team is testing the filter in Ecuador.
