Continuous Measurement Methods for Particulate Matter Composition Webinar

April 28, 2010 – Insights into the sources contributing to measured concentrations in ambient air, effectiveness of potential control strategies, and the possibility of composition-specific particulate matter (PM) regulatory standards are critical in achieving the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). Many scientists, regulators, and other officials have found the measurement campaigns used today are expensive and require the dedicated efforts of many highly skilled participants. Thus, STAR grantees proposed ways to develop, improve, and evaluate measurement techniques capable of providing low-cost yet high-frequency composition information. EPA’s National Center for Environmental Research, Science to Achieve Results (STAR) grantees discuss the objectives, approaches, and final results from their research with scientists from EPA, state agencies, other federal agencies, and industry.
