Research Interests
Primary research focus: improving sample collection of soils and sediments. Current research projects include:
- Analyzing the effectiveness of sample preservation techniques, including methanol, CuSO4, sodium bisulfate, and freezing in preserving VOC-contaminated soils
- Quantifying the release of VOCs due to sample disturbance
- Evaluating the efficience of micro volume, low velocity purge techniques for the collection of soil gas samples in determining soil VOC concentrations
- Comparison of common analytical methods for VOCs in soils
- Investigate the effectiveness and practicality of compositing VOC-contaminated soils in methanol
