EPA Scientists To Be Active Participants at EMS Meeting
Researchers from NHEERL’s Integrated Systems Toxicology Division (ISTD) Genetic and Cellular Toxicology Branch in Research Triangle Park, NC, will travel to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, October 15-19, 2011, to attend the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Environmental Mutagen Society (EMS). David DeMarini, a genetic toxicologist, will co-chair and present an invited talk in the Low Dose Mutagenesis and Carcinogenesis Symposium; his talk is titled “Low-Dose Carcinogenicity Studies.” While at the meeting, Dr. DeMarini also will speak on the “Overview of the Toxicity of the Oil Dispersant COREXIT” and participate in panel discussions. Jorge G. Muñiz Ortiz, a postdoctoral fellow biologist, has been invited to speak and participate in the daily poster sessions and exhibits. He will be presenting a poster entitled “A Genetic Approach To Elucidate the Genotoxic Pathway of Monomethylarsonous Acid Suggests a Key Role for Catalase.” In addition, Dr. Muñiz Ortiz will be attending symposia and other events at the meeting.
