GED To Host Sea Level Rise Workshop
A workshop on adaptation to sea level rise for the Pensacola Bay system will be conducted at NHEERL’s Gulf Ecology Division (GED), June 16, 2011. Sponsored by the Nature Conservancy (TNC), the primary objectives for the workshop are to (1) present a brief overview of modeling by TNC that simulates the potential impacts of sea level rise on the coastal wetlands of Pensacola Bay; (2) discuss and identify the natural communities, native species, and human infrastructure that are most vulnerable to the future impacts of sea level rise; and (3) work collectively to identify strategies that will ameliorate the future impacts and help maintain the natural and economic values of this critically important resource. The workshop will be attended by a group of experts with knowledge of the Pensacola Bay system, representing Federal, State, academic, and private organizations.
