GED Researchers Awarded EPA Gold Medal

Rick Greene, Acting Director of NHEERL’s Gulf Ecology Division (GED), and Jim Hagy of GED’s Ecosystem Dynamics and Effects Branch were among those recently awarded an EPA Gold Medal for Exceptional Service. They were part of the interdisciplinary team of experts from the Office of Science and Technology, Region IV, the Office of Research and Development, and the Office of General Counsel that collaborated on the development of Florida numeric nutrient criteria. Specifically, the award read, “For exemplary efforts to develop numeric criteria and protect Florida’s inland waters from nutrient pollution through an open and transparent public process based on legally and scientifically sound assessments.”
