TAD Scientist To Give Invited Talk in Mexico
Prasada Kodavanti, a research toxicologist in NHEERL’s Toxicity Assessment Division (TAD) Neurotoxicology Branch in Research Triangle Park, NC, has been invited to give a talk in Tlalpan, Mexico, in mid-October 2011. He will speak on “Exposure to Organohalgen Pollutants: Neurobehavioral and Hormonal Effects” at the XXV Annual Research Meeting of the National Institute of Psychiatry Ramon de la Fuente. While there, Dr. Kodavanti also will present EPA’s work on brominated flame retardants, with emphasis on neurobehavioral and hormonal effects; participate in roundtable discussions; and attend poster sessions.
This annual meeting is an important venue to present and discuss ORD’S ongoing research and assessment activities with other international experts. EPA will benefit also from learning first-hand about the emerging science on persistent organic chemicals. Each year, significant advances in this field are presented at this meeting. Such information is critical as the Agency continues its effort to enhance the scientific strength in regulating these chemicals.
