Two EPHD Predoctoral Students Win SOT Awards
Alex P. Carll and Christina M. Lamb, both University of North Carolina predoctoral students working in the laboratory of Aimen K. Farraj of NHEERL’s Environmental Public Health Division (EPHD) Cardiopulmonary and Immunotoxicology Branch, recently won prestigious graduate student awards from the Society of Toxicology (SOT). Mr. Carll, winner of the Cardiovascular Toxicology Specialty Section Graduate Student Travel Award, and Ms. Lamb, winner of the Inhalation and Respiratory Specialty Section Mary Amdur Student Award, presented work that they conducted at EPA that involved examination of the cardiovascular effects of diesel exhaust exposure in heart failure and hypertensive rats, respectively.
