GED Scientists Participate in EPA Gulf of Mexico Manager’s Meeting

The Gulf of Mexico Program Office (GMPO) held a meeting June 13 and 14, 2012, in Biloxi, MS, to identify specific activities and projects that impact the Gulf of Mexico watershed currently underway or planned by various EPA organizations. The participants identified cross-program coordination and communication needs for projects and activities. This information exchange served to add context to ongoing development of detailed work plans by the Gulf of Mexico Program Office. Specific Safe and Sustainable Water Resources; Air, Climate, and Energy; Chemical Safety for Sustainability; and Sustainable and Healthy Communities Research Program tasks relating to the Gulf of Mexico were presented. In addition to the two GED scientists, attendees included Region 4’s Mike Peyton, William Cox, Jim Giattina, Javoyne Hicks White, and Gwen Keyes-Fleming; Region 6’s Bill Honker and Jane Watson; Office of Water’s (OW’s) Denise Keehner and Tom Wall; nominated EPA Assistant Administrator for OW, Ken Kopocis; Office of General Counsel’s (OGC’s) Mary Kay Lynch; Gulf of Mexico Restoration Task Force’s John Hankinson; and GMPO’s Ben Scaggs.
