ORD Scientists Present EPA RAF Projects to SAB
Mace Barron Chief of NHEERL’s Gulf Ecology Division’s Biological Effects and Population Response Branch in Gulf Breeze, FL, and Glenn Suter of NCEA presented to the Science Advisory Board’s (SAB’s) Ecological Processes and Effects Committee (EPEC) on aspects of the EPA Risk Assessment Forum (RAF) Ecological Assessment Action Plan. This SAB review was to provide advice on the draft EPA document Integrating Ecological Assessment and Decision-Making at EPA: 2011 RAF Ecological Assessment Action Plan. Dr. Suter summarized initiatives under the Action Plan, and Dr. Barron provided an overview of the RAF project on incorporation of ecosystem services into ecological risk assessment methods. Other speakers included Mary Reiley of the Office of Water and Anthony Maciorowski (formerly with EPA). The teleconference was convened by Thomas Armitage (Designated Federal Official) and Ingrid Burke, Chair of the SAB EPEC.
