WED Reseachers Present at Oregon Sea Level Hazards Workshops
NHEERL Western Ecology Division’s (WED’s) Chris Janousek and Cheryl Brown are invited panel members for two workshops on sea level rise in Tillamook and Coos Bay, OR, on October 24 and 29, 2012. The events, which were organized by the Oregon Coastal Management Program and the Oregon Sea Grant, are entitled “Workshop on Sea Level Hazards: What’s the Risk, and What Can We Do?” The workshops explore how natural hazards related to sea levels might affect coastal communities. Also, the workshops are intended to foster community discussion about current scientific findings; how information can be used; what communities can do; and what tools, additional information, or other resources communities may need to respond to hazards related to sea level changes. Dr. Janousek’s and Dr. Brown’s workshop presentations are on the effects of sea level rise on ecological resources in Oregon estuaries.
