| EPA initiated the Arsenic Removal Technology Demonstration Program in 2002 to evaluate the performance, reliability, and cost of arsenic removal technologies and their effect on distribution systems. Two rounds of full-scale, commercially ready treatment technology demonstrations across the country provided states and water utility operators with important information about removing arsenic from their drinking water. |

| EPA’s Arsenic Removal Technology Demonstration Program conducts arsenic removal demonstrations at selected public water facilities across the United States. The program was divided into two rounds of demonstrations: 12 locations were funded for Round 1, and 28 locations were funded for Round 2. Now, Round 2a is underway at 10 locations. |
