Unique Environmental Features
Energy Conservation
- The Center Hill Facility reduces its electricity consumption by using a nighttime setback mode for its heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, cutting its demand load in half from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays and on weekends and holidays.
- Energy-efficient "green" lights in the office and high bay areas help reduce energy consumption.
Green Power
- EPA offsets 100 percent of the electricity consumption at its Center Hill Facility with renewable energy certificates (RECs) purchased through the Agency's current blanket green power contract. Learn more about EPA's current and past blanket green power contracts.
Water Conservation
- In February 2009, EPA completed a water management plan for the Center Hill Facility (PDF) (16 pp, 360K, About PDF).
