Thanks to everyone who participated in the lead poisoning prevention video contest sponsored by EPA, HUD and CDC! More than 40 videos were submitted, and the top three videos were chosen for their ability to help educate the public about the adverse health effects of lead poisoning, how lead exposure occurs and ways to prevent lead poisoning. Winners of the contest were notified during National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, October 18-24, and the winning videos were announced at CDC's National Environmental Public Health Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 27, 2009.

First Place Entry: "Just To Be Safe"

Winners

The first place winner is Mary Morgan, of Sunbury, Pennsylvania, for her video named Just To Be Safe. Because babies and young children are most at risk from the effects of lead poisoning, and as a mother of four children, Ms. Morgan targeted her video's Just To Be Safe theme specifically towards parents of young children. Ms. Morgan recently had home renovations done and was grateful she had contractors who understood how to minimize dust and conduct a proper clean up, so she developed the piece for parents experiencing similar renovation projects.
