Mobile Sources Selective Catalytic Reduction Technology Verified
The ETV Air Pollution Control Technology (APCT) Center, operated by RTI International, has verified the performance of the Johnson Matthey PLC, SCCRT, Version 1, Selective Catalytic Reduction with a Catalyzed Continuously Regenerating Trap for control of emissions from mobile diesel engines in highway use. The center verified the following aspects of technology performance: percentage of emissions reduction achieved by the technology for particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxide relative to the performance of the same baseline engine without the technology in place. Additionally, operating conditions and ancillary performance also were evaluated. The verification report and statement will be available soon at Air Pollution Control Technology Center Verified Technologies web page.

ETV Staff Win Service Awards for Verification Support
Several EPA ETV team members were recently awarded EPA Bronze Medals for Commendable Service in recognition of their efforts related to technology verification in support of EPA’s mission. Ray Frederick with ETV’s Water Quality Protection Center was recognized for the successful development of a new testing protocol for evaluating the performance of ballast water treatment technologies for large commercial vessels under a joint effort with the U.S. Coast Guard. Julius Enriquez, Teresa Harten, Evelyn Hartzell, and Michelle Henderson were honored for their efforts and cooperation on testing and verification of lead test kits in support of the Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program Rule. The test kits were verified under an ETV Environmental and Sustainable Technology Evaluation (ESTE) project. Mike Kosusko with ETV’s ESTE project for pesticide drift reduction technologies was recognized for exceptional technical assistance to the EPA Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards in developing risk assessments for the Residual Risk and Technology Review Program. |
