Ron received his degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1982, and his Ph.D from Cornell University in 1987. He is also a diplomat of the American Board of Toxicology (1988) and the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (2000).

Ron began his professional career as in 1982, as Chief of the Environmental Health Unit, US Air Force Reserve, 914th Tactical Air Clinic. In 1986, Ron accepted a fellowship with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Sea Grant Congressional Fellowship Program. In 1987, he transferred his commission from the Air Force to join the Public Health Service as a Commissioned Corps Officer. His first PHS position was as a Veterinary Medical Toxicologist with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In 1988, he transferred to his next position, with EPA Region 4 (Atlanta, GA) as the Regional Expert Toxicologist. After a two-year stint in Atlanta, he returned to Washington in 1990, to serve as the Chief of ORD's Regional Scientist Program. After 7 years in this position, he decided to return to the field and accepted the ORD Regional Scientist position in Region 3 (Philadelphia, PA). Presently, Ron's official duty station is the Region 3 Environmental Sciences Center at Ft. Meade, MD.

On a personal note, Ron is married to Paula and has two boys: Alex and Kenny. Ron's free time is spent jogging, hiking, canoeing and a participating in sports and cub scout related activities with his boys.
