National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center ![]()
A subsidiary of the National Association of Home Builders, NAHB Research Center is the research and development leader in the home building industry. The Center developed its Green Building Guidelines

- On-Site Grinding of Residential Construction Debris: The Indiana Grinder Pilot (PDF) (55 pp, 1.5MB)
This 1999 report, developed in partnership with EPA, documents a pilot project conducted to determine the feasibility of onsite grinding of clean wood, drywall, and cardboard waste from new residential construction as an alternative to conventional landfilling. The report includes information on how to identify and assess the major technological, economic, and environmental factors associated with the grinding technique.
Powell Center for Construction and Environment
Operated by University of Florida, the Powell Center is a research organization primarily dedicated to the resolution of environmental problems associated with planning and architecture activities. The center focuses on the determination of the optimum materials and methods for use in minimizing environmental damage. Check out their current Green Building

The Hamer Center for Community Design Assistance ![]()
The Hamer Center is an outreach and research unit of Penn State University. The Center studies issues relevant to the future of Commonwealth communities and provides education and technical assistance related to land use and transportation, community and economic development, the environment and quality of life.
