Recovery Act Clean Diesel Programs
The National Clean Diesel Campaign portion of the Recovery Act funding is divided into four programs.
- The Recovery Act Funding for the National Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program has received approximately $156 million, awarded on a competitive basis, to support diesel emission reduction programs. The Request for Applications closed April 28, 2009.
- The Recovery Act Funding for the National Clean Diesel Emerging Technology Program has received approximately $20 million to support the use, development and commercialization of emerging technologies that reduce emissions from diesel engines. The Request for Applications closed May 5, 2009.
- The Recovery Act Funding for the SmartWay Clean Diesel Finance Program has received approximately $30 million to support the creation of national, state or local innovative clean diesel financing programs. The Request for Applications closed April 28, 2009.
- The Recovery Act Funding for the State Clean Diesel Grant Program has received approximately $88 million to support clean diesel grant and loan programs administered by states and the District of Columbia.
The Diesel Emissions Reduction Program (DERA) Recovery Plan was submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on May 15, 2009. Recovery Plan (PDF) (10 pp, 130K, about PDF files)
EPA will issue additional Requests For Applications later this year. The FY 2009 National Diesel Emissions Reduction Program is $60 million.
