Renewable Fuel Standards: Registration Updates

See Title 40 CFR §80.1450 (d) for a full description of the registration requirements. This page is intended to be used in conjunction with the regulations and should not be used in lieu of reading the regulations.

Renewable fuel producers who change their facility to qualify for a renewable fuel category D code as defined in Title 40 CFR §80.1425 (g) must update any information that is not reflected in the registration material already on file with EPA. Producers must also submit a copy of an updated independent engineering review at least 60 days prior to producing the new type of renewable fuel.

Any producer of renewable fuel who makes any other changes to a facility not affecting the renewable fuel category for which the producer is registered must update his registration information 7 days prior to the change.

All producers of renewable fuel must update registration information and submit a copy of an updated independent engineering review every 3 years after initial registration.

Any registered company that has a change of Responsible Corporate Officer (RCO) must notify EPA within 30 days. In order to facilitate the change of RCO, please submit the following:

  • Letter stating the RCO change which has name of former RCO and new RCO signed by new RCO
  • CDX Submitter delegation letter for any registered submitters, signed by the new RCO

All other, updated registration information should be submitted to EPA within thirty (30) days of when the registration information previously supplied becomes incomplete or inaccurate, unless otherwise stated in the Regulations.
