U.S. Environmental Protection Agency November 2001 Document Released for Public Information "Final Determination of Hot Running Emissions from FTP Bag Emissions" Report Number EPA420-R-01-059 (M6.STE.002) The Office of Transportation and Air Quality, Assessment and Standards Division announces the release of "Final Determination of Hot Running Emissions from FTP Bag Emissions" for public information. This document EPA420-R-01-059, also known as M6.STE.002, is available at the MOBILE6 section of the OTAQ Web Site (http://www.epa.gov/otaq/m6.htm). This document describes our efforts to develop a simple model for estimating hot running 505 (HR505) emissions from FTP data. The HR505 is an extra exhaust emissions "bag" performed immediately following the third "bag" of the standard FTP. This new "bag" is a duplicate in terms of speed/time to the first and third "bags". The only difference between the "bags" is the HR505 does not contain an engine start. The HR505 was developed to allow the separation of the emission effects of vehicle start with the effects of hot running operation. This report was originally released (as a draft) on May, 1999 under the title, "The Determination of Hot Running Emissions from FTP Bag Emissions". It was subsequently revised in November, 2001, and the November, 2001 is now the final version. This final revision incorporates suggestions and comments received from stakeholders during the 60-day review period and from peer reviewers.
