SmartWay has received inquiries from the region, but does not have any project work within the continent at this time. The Inter-American Development Bank is developing a Climate Action Plan which will include freight sustainability initiatives. The SmartWay program was presented to a group of Bank officials at a workshop in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in November 2009.
