  • March 27, 2008 EPA announces web-based financing clearinghouse
    SmartWay Transport has collaborated with iBank to develop a web-based financing clearinghouse where fleet owners can submit one loan application and have lenders compete for their business.
     
  • March 19, 2008 — EPA releases updated guidance on Carrier FLEET model.

  • October 22, 2007 — EPA Announces 2007 SmartWay Excellence Award Winners
    The agency honors 34 businesses and organizations for their outstanding contributions to greater fuel efficiency, reduced greenhouse-gas emissions, and improved air quality at the 2007 SmartWay Excellence Awards ceremony in Philadelphia.

  • October 3, 2007 SmartWay Financing Available for Buying Cleaner Used Diesel Trucks
    Lower-cost loans to finance the purchase of cleaner used diesel trucks are now available in Virginia. EPA ’s SmartWay Transport Partnership is partnering with the Virginia Port Authority and local banks and truck dealers to make lower-cost financing available for cleaner trucks purchased in Norfolk. These retrofitted used trucks reduce particulate-matter emissions by at least 50%. EPA is also working with other ports and local governments to make this special financing available throughout the nation.

  • August 24 , 2007 — Great American Trucking Show Highlights First SmartWay Trucks to Use Renewable Fuels
    The first group of SmartWay Grow & Go truckers to use renewable fuels were recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency's top air official at the Great American Trucking Show in the Dallas Convention Center. The agency showcased a new fleet of SmartWay-certified tractors and trailers that could reduce fuel consumption by as much as 20 percent.
  • June 28, 2007 — SmartWay Grow & Go Helps Launch First E85 Pump in D.C.
    The capital's first public E85 pump went into service today thanks to a collaborative effort between the SmartWay Grow & Go program and other private and public organizations. These efforts will help pave the way for other E85 pumps planned for the metropolitan Washington area.

  • March 22, 2006 — Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) evaluates fuel, air quality gains from big-rig modifications  Exit EPA disclaimer
    SwRI issued a press release reporting promising results to date in its evaluation of low-drag tires and trailers on Class 8 trucks for improvements in fuel efficiency and pollutant emissions with SmartWay.
  • January 14, 2005 — Midnight Trucking Radio Network
    At 4 a.m. (Central Time), "Midnight Trucking Radio Network" hosts Eric Harley and Joe Kelly interviewed Suzanne Rudzinski, EPA Division Director, and Paul Abrams, SmartWay Transport Partner National Freight's Assistant Risk Manager, about the Partnership, the associated emissions reductions, and fleet fuel savings.
