IKEA’s corporate vision is to create a better everyday experience
for many people, by offering a wide range of well-designed, functional
home furnishings at prices so low that as many people as possible are
able to afford them. IKEA sells low-price products, including furniture,
accessories, bathrooms and kitchens, at retail stores around the world.
While its core business is the selling of home furnishings, it also
develops and purchases IKEA products in relationship with suppliers.
As a SmartWay Shipper, IKEA has encouraged all of its transportation
service providers to join the Partnership, resulting in virtually 100%
of its freight shipments being handled by SmartWay carrier and logistics
partners. IKEA also visits carrier locations to ensure SmartWay compliance.
Due to IKEA’s efforts, 30 new carriers joined SmartWay.
