John Christner Trucking LLC
Sapulpa, OK

leaf Winner, 2007 SmartWay Excellence Award

John Christner Trucking LLC, established in 1986, operates a fleet of over 650 late model tractors and 800 refrigerated trailers from their headquarters in Sapulpa, OK.

Since becoming a SmartWay Transport Partner in 2004, John Christner Trucking has significantly reduced greenhouse gases through improving equipment, driver education, utilizing new technologies and has:

  • Equipped over half their fleet of tractors with a combination of battery-powered and auxiliary-powered cab comfort systems with plans to have the entire fleet completed by 2008;
  • Started equipping the entire fleet of trailers with the latest in automatic tire inflation systems and plans to have the entire fleet retrofitted by 2008;
  • Conducted on-going driver education and truck engine tracking to reduce idling and improve overall MPG;
  • Used on-board satellite communication to monitor both fuel efficiency and idle times.

“Simply put, the SmartWay program makes sense. With today’s increased pressures to hold cost in line and protect our eroding natural recourses, this voluntary program works. I encourage everyone in the transportation industry to seriously consider the benefits of becoming a SmartWay Partner.”

— Steve Dickson, Vice President Maintenance
