Lane Regional Air Protection Agency
Springfield, Oregon

 Winner, 2006 SmartWay Excellence Award

Lane Regional Air Protection Agency (LRAPA) created the "Everybody Wins" lease-to-own program to reduce pollution caused by heavy-duty trucks that idle along the Interstate-5 corridor. LRAPA’s program provides truckers with low-cost, lease-to-own arrangements on auxiliary power units (APUs). To date, the program has provided 350 APUs to Oregon-based truckers, resulting in annual fuel saving of more than a million gallons. An extension of this program now is being carried out by fellow SmartWay Affiliate Cascade Sierra Solutions to benefit the entire Interstate-5 corridor.

"As a small local air agency, we were thrilled to be on the cutting edge of reducing idling emissions and fuel use through the Everybody Wins program. We are grateful for the many partners from the trucking, environmental, and energy sectors that have made Everybody Wins so successful. And now we are even more excited to see the expansion of Everybody Wins to the entire West Coast and to include SmartWay Upgrade Kits."

— Merlyn L. Hough, Director
