Joining the SmartWay Transport Partnership is simple.

Step 1:  Sign the Partnership Agreement with EPA for either carriers (PDF) (2 pp, 79K) or railroads (PDF) (1 page, 527K).

Step 2:  Assess the environmental performance of your freight operations. Trucking companies use our FLEET Performance Model for Freight Carriers, completing the fields in the spreadsheet and then submitting it to EPA.  1.1M ZIP XLS.  (Clicking on this link will launch the FLEET Performance Model.  To download the model, right click the link and save the file to your computer.  If you cannot access these files or do not have Microsoft Excel, please contact us.)
