Based on 2011 Partner data, this chart shows the averaged percentages of SmartWay carriers (among all SmartWay Partner carrier categories--truck, rail, logistics, and multimodal) used by SmartWay Shipper Partners versus non-SmartWay carriers used. This proportion is based on the reported numbers of SmartWay and non-SmartWay carriers for each shipper company, averaged across all SmartWay Shipper Partners.

This chart demonstrates that SmartWay Shipper Partners use SmartWay carriers in greater numbers than non-SmartWay carriers.

This graph, based on Shipper Partner data for 2011, shows SmartWay Shippers distributed by total mileage accumulated by the carriers moving their freight. This includes all mileage contracted by individual SmartWay Shippers with their carriers, whether loaded or empty, and does not include carrier mileage undertaken for other companies. SmartWay Shippers range from companies whose mileage related to contracted freight movement is relatively low to the largest shippers in terms of mileage. Almost 80% of SmartWay Shippers reported total carrier mileage between 10 million and one billion miles in 2011.

The graph demonstrates that SmartWay attracts shippers with very large transportation footprints, as well as businesses that ship more locally.

This chart portrays the information in the previous graph in another way; this time as a pie chart, to better represent the proportion of SmartWay Shippers whose total carrier mileage correspond to each of the given ranges. Based on Shipper Partner data for 2011, each wedge of the pie diagram corresponds to the percentage of SmartWay Shippers whose carriers' cumulative mileage for those shippers falls within a defined range of miles. As in the previous graph, this mileage includes all mileage contracted by individual SmartWay Shippers with their carriers, whether loaded or empty, and does not include carrier mileage undertaken for other companies. (Note that the mileage ranges progress by orders of magnitude, not increments of the same number of miles.)

SmartWay Shippers range from companies with relatively small transportation footprints to the largest shippers in terms of mileage. As with the previous chart, this chart demonstrates the wide diversity of shippers partnering with SmartWay.
