Biogas East & Midwest will bring together industry leaders to spotlight biogas, with a focus on how to capitalize on the high energy yields of food and organic waste streams. Participants can hear information on best practice from farms with anaerobic digester projects, network with investors looking to finance projects, hear from utilities on the criteria for integrating into the grid, and meet technology providers and discover how their products can enhance the cost effectiveness of projects.
GMI Agriculture Subcommittee Meeting

The next Agriculture Subcommittee meeting will be held in conjunction with the GMI Municipal Solid Waste and Municipal Wastewater Subcommittees as well as Water Convention 2012: Water Solutions for Liveable and Sustainable Cities and the International Solid Waste Association's Beacon Conference. The subcommittee's draft Statement of Purpose will be revised at the meeting, which will also include technical sessions related to increasing the implementation of agricultural methane recovery projects around the world.

AgSTAR hosted Straight From Producers: The Real Story on Anaerobic Digestion Systems, which featured a panel of dairy producers and anaerobic digester system operators responding to audience questions about their experiences. Examples of questions addressed included:
- Can manure management systems make a profit?
- How does bedding on digested solids affect cows' health?
- Do anaerobic digestion systems change the way a farm is managed?
- What are the benefits of third-party-owned and-operated systems?

A one-day tour of the Castelanelli Bros. Dairy covered lagoon digester in Lodi, California. These systems were designed for dairy farms that handle flush manure from feedlanes or freestalls.
