The authority for EPA's radiological emergency preparedness and response activities comes from many sources:
- Numerous Statutes
- Executive Orders
- Presidential Decision
- Homeland Security Presidential Directives.
Other documents, such as federal emergency response plans and regulations, further define the Agency's role. EPA also works with other countries to plan its role in responding to a foreign radiological incident that may affect the United States.
