EPA Workshop - Introduction to Ecological Restoration: Integrating Ecological Mitigation Measures and Ecological Enhancements into Remedial Activities at Contaminated Sites
This workshop was held on June 7 and 8, 2005 to provide a technical overview and introduction to ecological restoration and engineering approaches to project managers and technical specialists. Participants were acquainted with the benefits of ecological restoration and enhancements, were provided with sufficient technical information to enable them to identify fatal flaws in project proposals and designs, were presented with case studies to help identify opportunities for integrating ecological enhancements into remedial design, and were shown how ecological restoration and enhancements can be integrated into economically viable brownfields and beneficial reuse projects. Future workshops on specialized topics with field visits are being considered.
