Seller, Lessor, and Agent Responsibilities
If you are selling or renting out a home or apartment built before 1978 you are required (with certain exceptions) under Federal Law to inform the prospective homeowner and tenant about any known lead-based paint and lead-based paint hazards. The prospective homeowner should also have the opportunity to inspect the home before the agreement of sale is signed. You must also:
- provide the homeowner or tenant with all information and documented reports on known lead paint and/or lead-based paint hazards found at the dwelling.
- provide the tenant with the "Protect Your Family From Lead In Your Home" pamphlet
- include signed seller, lessee and agent acknowledgments with the agreement of sale or lease.
