Cleanup in Compton

A $1.3 million dollar pilot project aimed at assessing 29 abandoned sites along the I-170 was initiated with the removal of three underground tanks, which held fuel, at an old gas station in Compton, Calif. EPA and the state water boards will assess the level of environmental cleanup required to make these sites available for reuse.

Partnership with Arizona State University
EPA and ASU signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on increasing outreach to diverse and underserved communities by offering internships, joint projects, and scientific research opportunities to ASU students and faculty.

Support for San Francisco
EPA funding will help the city determine how to integrate community-sized infrastructure systems into the urban development process, how to identify sites suited for hosting energy-generating facilities, and how to create supportive partnerships, financing, and policies.
