Brown Goes Green - An Electric Fleet for UPS

Regional Administrator Jared Blumenfeld joined California Governor Jerry Brown on a tour of a new UPS fleet of electric trucks in Sacramento. An EPA grant of $1.5 million helped with the purchase of the fleet. UPS expects the trucks to reduce fuel consumption by 126,000 gallons a year and to lower carbon emissions.

Protecting Drinking Water by Closing a Landfill

Large-scale construction work has been completed to properly close the 440-acre Sunrise Mountain Landfill just outside Las Vegas. EPA required this work to ensure the durability of the final landfill cover and to protect a vital drinking water source for communities from Las Vegas to Phoenix to Southern California.
