California Bioresources Alliance Symposia
Formerly The Pacific Southwest Organic Residuals Symposium
California Bioresources Alliance 9th Annual Symposium
The symposium brings together people involved in organic residuals (e.g. manure, foodwaste, biosolids, green waste, animal wastes) in California, including industry professionals, municipalities, legislators, local, state and federal regulatory agencies, researchers, and financers. The two-day event is organized by University of California (UC) Davis Extension and the US EPA, Pacific Southwest.
The 2014 symposium was held at the U.C. Davis Buehler Alumni Center, on June 3rd and 4th, 2014, and included sessions on legislation and policy developments in California addressing bioresources, implementation of AB 1900 concerning digester gas clean-up, status of waste-to-energy projects in California, new biosolids-to-energy projects and research, evaluation of biogas systems, and impacts of the drought on bioresources planning. Sid England, UC Davis Assistant Vice Chancellor of Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability, gave an opening talk on developing sustainable practices on campus, including the UC Davis Renewable Energy Anaerobic Digesters. UC Davis Professor Ruihong Zhang and Clean World Partners representative Katie Oliver gave a presentation and lead a tour of the new anaerobic digesters the second day.
