The Department of Defense supports groups similar to the Community Advisory Groups for private sites. The Department of Defense (DOD) calls these groups Restoration Advisory Boards (RABs). RABs are forums for the exchange of information and partnerships between community members, the DOD facility, the state, and the U.S. EPA. RABs provide communities the opportunity for input into the environmental cleanup process. EPA is the lead federal regulatory agency for all DOD facilities listed on the National Priorities List for cleanup or at base closure sites where EPA has received resources from DOD. In Region 9, Restoration Advisory Boards are active at the following installations:
