EPA recognizes the need to assist the regulated community. Compliance assistance helps those in business, industry, institutions, and government understand and meet their legal obligations. Assistance can also help the regulated community find cost-effective ways to go "beyond compliance" or reduce its regulatory burden through the use of Pollution Prevention, Environmental Management Systems, or Environmental Technologies.
-
EPA works with state and local governments, trade associations,
non-profit organizations and others in developing and providing
assistance activities and tools. - Assistance is provided in a variety of ways such as workshops, on-site visits, and training manuals.
- Assistance may be specific to a certain regulatory requirement (e.g. storm water management, diesel idling) or program (e.g. Smart Way, Resource Conservation Challenge), or it may be sector-oriented to address the issues of a particular audience:
The following links are provided for some sectors for which EPA New England no longer maintains a compliance assistance website:
- Metal Finishers: The National Metal Finishing Resource Center

- Printers: The Printers' National Environmental Compliance Assistance Center

- Wood Furniture Manufacturers: The Wood Furniture Manufacturing Topic Hub
