Emergency Planning and Response
To Report an oil spill or other environmental emergency such as a chemical release, call the National Response Center at 1-800-424-8802.
EPA New England's Emergency Planning and Response Program plans for, prepares, and conducts responses to discharges of oil and releases of hazardous substances. In addition to conducting regional emergency response planning activities, emergency preparedness activities, inspection of oil storage facilities, and oil and chemical spill emergency actions, this Branch oversees short-term cleanups in New England. For additional information, visit EPA's National Emergency Response Program Web site.
By implementing plans and coordinating activities, EPA New England supports and supplements the efforts of local, state, and private resources to mitigate emergencies. Under the National Contingency Plan the Federal Government has developed its National Response System to handle environmental emergencies.
