As we announced in our previous mailings to you, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 2, as a part of a special initiative, is planning to conduct inspections of colleges and universities within our region (New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, & U.S. Virgin Islands) to determine their compliance with hazardous waste and other environmental regulations. This New Jersey Pollution Prevention and Compliance Assistance Workshop for Colleges and Universities is sponsored by EPA and supported by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. It will be held October 5, 2000 at EPA Region 2 offices, 290 Broadway (between Duane St. and Reade St.). A registration form and workshop agenda are attached.
Registration forms can be faxed to the EPA Compliance Assistance and Program Support Branch at (212) 637-4086. Additional information on the workshops is available by contacting Diane D. As before, we would urge you to take advantage of the EPA's Audit Policy to identify any violations and to voluntarily correct them prior to our inspections of colleges and universities, to begin in the fall of the year 2000.

As we announced in our previous mailings to you, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 2, as a part of a special initiative, is planning to conduct inspections of colleges and universities within our region (New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, & U.S. Virgin Islands) during the upcoming year to determine their compliance with hazardous waste and other environmental regulations. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Pollution Prevention Unit, under a EPA grant, has conducted a series of pollution prevention and compliance assistance workshops for colleges and universities, both state and private. They have been working with the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo Center for Integrated Waste Management (CIWM), DEC Regional Staff, and with EPA Region 2 in setting up these workshops. This, the last workshop, is for the greater New York City Metropolitan area and will be held on October 3, 2000 at EPA Region 2 offices, 290 Broadway (between Duane St. and Reade St.). A registration form and workshop agenda are attached.
