|Harlem Healthshed Sustainability Project
||To improve public health and the environment in East Harlem, New York, we are working with the United States Forest Service, Columbia University, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and Department of Health and others to establish a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Virtual Library and implement a pilot project (community eco-building block) using the virtual library to help guide decision making.
|Ramapo College Sustainablity and Renewable Energy Education Program at the Meadowlands Environment Center
||EPA funded Ramapo College's education project at the New Jersey Meadowlands Environment Center. Through lessons and presentations to high school students, teacher trainings, building exhibits, and public outreach and demonstrations, this project promotes renewable energy, green buildings, water conservation, recycling, and sustainable communities to students, teachers, and the general public in New Jersey.
|Green Building Stewards Course
||EPA is funding the development of curriculum for a course on Green Building that will be offered for New York City union educators and union workers. City University of New York will offer the course through the Joseph S. Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies in January 2007.
|Rosamond Gifford Zoo Native Plants Garden
||EPA funded the Friends of Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse to create a garden with native plant species in the front plaza of the Zoo. The garden areas will serve as a functional extension of the Zoo's green building by reducing run-off and filtering pollutants.
