Environmental Education (EE) Grants

Purpose:

To provide financial support for projects which design, demonstrate or disseminate environmental education practices, methods or techniques.

Eligible Applicants:

Local, tribal or state education agencies, colleges and universities, nonprofit organizations, state environmental agencies and non-commercial educational broadcasting agencies.

Award Amount:

Most awards are for $10,000
Occasionally up to $50,000
EPA HQ accepts applications between $50,001 - $150,000

Total Awarded in Fiscal Year:

$195,000 Regionally in FY05

Matching Share:

25% matching share required

Priorities:

Applicants must demonstrate that projects focus on one of the following:

  1. improving environmental education teaching skills;
  2. educating teachers, students or the public about human health
  3. building state, local or tribal government capacity to develop environmental ed programs
  4. promoting environmental careers among students
  5. educating the public through a community based organization, through print or other media
  6. using environmental education to advance education reform
