Background

The Milwaukee Die Casting Co. produced aluminum and zinc alloy parts for a variety of industries until 1997.  Between 1997 and 2009, some cleanup activities occurred on the site.  The owner of the property passed away in 2009, effectively abandoning the site. The property has fallen into disrepair, and EPA has determined that conditions present at the site constitute a threat to public health, welfare, or the environment.

Site Updates

March 2013

EPA is planning a cleanup of environmental contamination at the Milwaukee Die Casting facility located at 4132 N. Holton St. EPA expects the cleanup will start in late spring. Plans include disconnecting the property from the city's storm sewers, demolishing the building and removing contaminated soi. This will be a large project involving a lot of heavy equipment and many trucks in the area. The cleanup is expected to take nearly one year to complete. The property will be left as an empty grassy lot with restrictions on future use. The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee (RACM) will manage the redevelopment and reuse of the property.
