The Milwaukee Die Casting Co. produced aluminum and zinc alloy parts for a variety of industries until 1997. Between 1997 and 2009, some cleanup activities occurred on the site. The owner of the property passed away in 2009, effectively abandoning the site. The property has fallen into disrepair, and EPA has determined that conditions present at the site constitute a threat to public health, welfare, or the environment.

EPA prepared a Community Involvement Plan for the Milwaukee Die Casting site. This plan, known as a CIP, is prepared as a tool for EPA to engage and collaborate with all those involved and affected by the site during environmental investigation and cleanup. The CIP documents site actions, community involvement activities, and questions and information needs expressed during conversations and meetings. It also describes EPA’s plan for addressing the community’s concerns and keeping residents informed and involved. EPA is coordinating with state and local agencies involved in environmental investigation and cleanup work at the site.
