We focus EPA's resources on solving environmental problems. Our office leverages Regional and local resources to bring about responsible community environmental decision-making in the fifteen-county Northeast Ohio area. We work with Region 5 Program Offices to provide direct program implementation in Northeast Ohio and throughout Region 5.
Programs
We work in three EPA programs:
Emergency Response
On-scene coordinators coordinate and solve hazardous waste spill issues
Brownfields and Early Action
Resources Management Division (RMD)
The Agency recognizes that we have much to do to ensure that communities directly impacted by environmental degradation have not only a voice, but also a seat at the decision-making table.
- RMD staff continually expands the conversation on environmentalism
- RMD staff wants to do their part to share knowledge and experience
- make resources available when they will be useful to meeting environmental goals
- strengthen work in the Northeast Ohio community
Three core principles that must inform everything we do are:
- science must be the determining factor in EPA decision making
- adherence to the rule of law
- operating with unparalleled transparency
Services of the RMD Cleveland Office Staff
The Cleveland Office plans, manages, and coordinates the delivery of EPA services to the community. The Office is:
- A unique EPA team within a community that is continuously developing and supporting partnerships and other relationships, and operating with unparalleled transparency.
- A center for environmental problem-solving where leadership, coordination, linking and leveraging of supplies and services, and information-gathering help us select and apply the appropriate tools including enforcement to solve environmental problems.
- An accessible, general-resource center that also provides outreach, media and community relations, and rapid response to environmental problems which put a "face" on EPA within the community.
- A center of leadership to multimedia approaches and environmental investigations, including conducting and providing coordination for Region-wide multimedia investigations.
- A source of assistance for the Region to target, coordinate, and support the delivery of EPA services and resources in the community using partnerships and knowledge of the area.
- An office uniquely staffed and equipped to perform administrative and management functions.
