Remedial Action Plans (RAPs)

Lake Erie provides drinking water to over 11 million people. Four rivers in Ohio that flow into Lake Erie have been identified as being so polluted that they have become Areas of Concern (AOCs). Local groups have formed in these areas to develop Remedial Action Plans (RAPs) Exit EPA Disclaimer to help clean up the pollution. The local groups are a partnership of governmental agencies, industries, and concerned citizens.

The basin drains approximately 1,073 square miles in Ohio before entering Pennsylvania and joining with the Shenango to form the Beaver River, a tributary of the Ohio River.
