Background
The Jacobsville neighborhood is in Evansville, Indiana. The site in this neighborhood is about 250 acres or 45 city blocks. It houses both residential and commercial properties but was formerly used by several lead manufacturing companies. These operations date back to the 1880s. Lead has contaminated a wide area of soil. The site was added to the National Priority List (NPL) 07/22/2004. Soil sampling took place in November 2004, April 2005, and October 2005.

- EPA held a public meeting on January 23, 2007 about the proposed cleanup plan. Two public meetings were held February 8, 2007. The comment period ran from January 12 to February 13, 2007.
